The new season is looming- Hopefully I will get more excited about some shows again. Oddly enough, the only show I really look forward to right now is Arrow.

Evil forces glued me to my bed this morning. I have no idea how I even got to work in time.

Per oxoniensis recommendation, I checked out Chicago Fire last night and it was gorgeous. Is Gorgeous. And I totally slash Casey/Severide. OMG. The excitement. It's a kind of show I don't usually watch, so it speaks for the quality I think.

Also watched some episodes of Emily Owens MD and even though it isn't bad, there is just way too much second hand embarrassment for me.

I also checked out Arrow recently and quite like it. I'm still a bit irritated though that Lex Luthor is letting them live in his castle.

Whilst doing that I continued to work on my HTML s2 dreamwidth layer and made zero progress. No, atually I managed to integrate a to top button. There is something about the perl language that seriously escapes me. I might just give it up and CSS my way through the styles that are actually there. Still, it is a bit furstrating.

Also even though I had told myself I would not spend any more money, the evil people of lomography.com have sent me a newsletter that said 30% off on a camera I wanted for aaaaages. So I caved because I don't think I will ever get it cheaper.

I'm always happy to see actors I love in other stuff. Latest examples are JR Bourne (I tried Teen Wolf for him) and Michael Trucco from BSG fame is on HIMYM and of course on Fairly Legal.

Last night on HIMYM I found him utterly hilarious. OMG, I haven't laughed that hard in ages. He was so good there. Totally over tbhe top amazing.

On monday I check my number two guilty pleasure show Revenge and it has a new storyline that has, can you guess, JR Bourne. Now JR has a brother or buisness partner played my Michael Trucco. Heeee. It is amazing. Also Revenge is so much fun.

Oh and Santiago Cabrera was on Dexter. Which could bring me to Merlin. How beautiful is tat show filmed this season.

So basically, TV has been good to me lately. Last Nights How I met your mother gave me more Michael Trucco. Nothing is ever wrong with that and I get him in HIMYM and Fairly Legal. BTW. I don't count this as a spoiler. Do you?

Games of Thrones lived up to my expectations. Some minor gripes. I just wonder if my love for Jon Snow has to do with the fact that he was my favorite in the book, or if I just liked Kit Harrington. Who cares though. I also loved Arya a lot and Tyrion. Which is not surprising since they were all favorites in the books. I had intended to do picsspam or icons or something. Time is not permitting it though so it will have to wait. Till it does ;)

Oh yeah, Jason Momoa is in it... for you Atlantis peeps. Also the intro is fantastic.

New Glee and Parenthood tonight. YAY!

I also finally watched The Eagle and then proceeded to show clips to Rene who agrees it is a romance movie.

Also the good, my super sekrit work project. I get to learn WordPress for it. It's very convenient.
I am to this point successfully fighting this damn cold.

There are so many things I've been meaning to post about so I figure why not just start before I get lazy again. I've finally send my artword graphic to my writer, though I migth still make changes. It's like something is still missing. also, I totally missed sign-ups for lantis_lims. I need to do that now. Also, well, the new round starts now so join up if you haven't already, it's the most awesome lims com there is.

Indiana Jones Night

For all my bad planning skillz, Indiana Jones vid night was a great success. cerri44, dynamicrange, frogspace, half_lit_world, icequeen3101, legoline, mordio, shironezumi, sophie0, stabbim and subtle__sarcasm came to my place last friday to watch.

We had a barbecue in our garden (no snakes though...) and watched the first two movies on a beamer. I seem to have forgotten a lot about the second part. It's my least favorite, because of the whole vodoo plot. It's less archeology, which is what I mostly love about Indie. But still so much fun.

TV

I did not sleep at all from friday to saturday however. Took the time to catch up on some TV in a dead state. BSG, Lost and Moonlight were all so very awesome. I cannot believe this was Moonlight's final episode. How can they be so stupid and cancel that show??? I hope Joel Silver manages to find another network because I surely don't want it to end.
Also sophie0 sold me some of her SGA actor related movies and I watched Thoughtcrimes again. Brenden Dean is such an awesomely weird character and it makes me sad, that his show never came to be even though we wouldn't have gotten the SGA we got now if it had.
There was some unexpected Ollian (more of a mention, but...) in monday Verbotene Liebe episode. I think it's time to rewatch some clips.

Party, Musik

On Saturday I went to Renes get together and got horribly drunk and had this really disgusting cocktail. My train, which was supposed to leave at 3:33 left 3 minutes early and of course I wasn't it. At the platform I was fuming. Happily for me I was not alone because icequeen3101 and cerri44 had just returend from a gig and were also stranded!
Tonight I will see "Explosions in the Sky" in cologne with sophie0, half_lit_world and dynamicrange. Musik YAY!!!! Also planning to buy tickets for Deathcab for Cutie and Kaizers Orchestra will play for free at Olgas!!!! omgz!

My Own Spires Entry, Projects, To-Do List

My own Spires idea took a turn into a completely different direction than what I planned last night. Odd how that is, since I'm enjoying it quite a bit but it's so very different. Far more friendly and less technical then I had initially planned.

Also, since it's supposed to be John centric, do you think they'd mind me sneaking other characters in?

I'm amazingly awake considering the fact that I only slept for 4 hours. I got a large portion of my first Spires entry done as well as a lot of Tweaking on svmadelyn's Heroes project.

Art Recs

As you probably know paintedspires has started and the first entries have started flowing in. Here are a few I truly enjoyed.

• Detective Noir by leyna55 impressed me the most. The Amount of work and detail that went into this is stunning. It's been painted ith a graphic tablet it seems and well, just go look for yourself.


• The Electric Things Have Their Life Too by steammmpunk. And no, it's not a Terminator AU at least I think it's not. I also found this Bones SGAAU in her lj that I find quite stunning.


• Wonderful comic like artwork by astridv. It's got Todd and Ronon fighting side by side!


• Then there is Uncounted by aesc. I always have this notion about thinking and processes taking place inside of us when I look at her pieces. And the theme for me, fits this.


• Not Spired related is this Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Artwork by lambent. It was done for me as part of the Flash fiction. The prompt I gave was Tin Man.

The Ollian

I also watched a large portion of the Ollian vids again and have decided that you all should suffer with me. I'm hopeless ;) frogspace got my hopelessly readdicted to the German soap Opera "Verbotene Liebe." Or rather, the pairing Oliver/Christian.

It always took just one pairing ;) Its basically a coming out story, but I think for a soap, the language aside, it's wonderfully done. And really you should all watch it. People make it easy for you.

I'm watching season 2 of supernatural currently. I like like it way better than the first half. And omg..now it just made me weepy!!!

Yesterday, I spontaneously combusted over these (pic1, pic2) pics of John Sheppard in the ep Outcast (spoilery if you know the plot). I think he sort of looks like a Detektive in the fifties.

I watched the first two episodes of the Sarah Connor chronicles and really enjoyed them. ( just one comment about it )

Also my Peg 3 ticket arrived and I'm number 315 which means I missed the met a greet. which is a shame, but it cannot top last year anyways *g*.

I talked to shruuf earlier about what draws peaple to a TV show. she told me she doesn't like Nip/Tuck because she cannot identify with a character, or doesn't have a favorite character and there doesn't seem to be an overseasonal or serieswide plotdevice or goal. Like I like Lex in Smallville. I liked the Manticore hunts the mutant plots in Dark Angel, and the mystery in the second season. Or even like I loooved Tom Paris in Voyager and Lex Luthor in Smallville.

Usually, I need a favorite character to totally get hooked on a show. It makes me passionate about it, it makes me want to read fanfic, get involved in fandom by that and participate. And yes, it also lets me turn a blind eye on the mistakes, the wormhole-wide plotholes, and continuety errors more, because there is my man and he's just walking and THERE.

I must admit, that lately I'm a bit disappointed in smallville. I don't like hwo the producers and writers are handling the show and the mythology. There has been lots of talk about the relationship between Ley and clark the last few days and I urge you to read this. It was linked by mecurtin in the yahoo Clark/Lex community and basically sums up my misgivings.

But still, I'm watching Smallville for Lex and the Clex. And to have fun. But there are large parts involving a formerly pink princess where are often push the forward button, cos I'm bored. The Smallville cast is inconsistent. KK is just bad and boring. she has moments when she shines but for me, they are too few, too little. I want to believe that she cannot identify with Lana, but I think KK cannot choose a project to save or life. She was spectecularly bad in earthsea. She sucked the life out of poor shawn Ashmore too. Basically, I think Smallville isn't what it should have been.

The thing is, I love plot. When I read fanfic, I don#t like pwp. I need plot. There is nothing more gratifying then a thikly, well-planned plot. without holes. There was this shining moment in season 3, well, all of season three up to asylum. It was a story-arc. An arc that fed bits an pieces to the viewer each episode and slowly let us in on the truth. This arc ended with a bang, a bang so beautiful and painful at the same time it was hard to bear.I remember shaking in front of my monitor and thinking wow!!!! cos Shattered and Asylum, btu Asylum especially, full of plot and wonderful acting. Even Lana didn't piss me expect the time she told Clark he was to blame. this years story-arc involves a) Lana and b) is too inconsistent and I close to have forgotten it again. Well, he whole season overall is very medicore and my favorite character, the one I'm identifying with and mainly watch to show for is basically screentimeless. Not to mention that other factor why I watch the show, the Clex. I mean... two eps with Clex in it?? And I'm supposed to care much?

I totally went of course here.... *giggles*

I'm kinf of passionate about my boys. The moment I saaw the show, that was it. UI had to check out if there was fanfic and my entry in thw world of livejournal came shortly after. Because they were my characters.

Which sort of brings me to Veronica Mars. I do not have a favorite character. Neither do I ship any het or slash pairing. they story in itself it what keeps me on that show. It's deeply intervoven, cleverly thought out, cleverly excecuted and well played by the actors. There isn't a weak link. I don't have a favorite character, cos i like all of them. Just not with the passion I have for Clex and Lex. But it doesn't need that passion. I don't think you'll find me write or read VM fanfic. Bt itS' basically because the show in itself it such a wonderful construct. Because it's an every episode continuing story-arc that just has me so wrapped in it I cannot stop musing otr speculating, just like I think maybe Twin Peaks was back in the day.

And it's not only the main storyline but the little countless details they fit in there in such a wonderful way. Awesome cast, awesome writing, awesome stories. Just wow. Now it just need a Lex. :)
