SGA 4x12 Spoils of War
Starting with showing the Wraith was quite interesting. for a second, I thought Todd had adapted the "Leave no man behind" mantra.
Taking a zpm is very smart and I think it's cool that the are ambiguous with Todd. What I don't quite get is why they produced the soldiers even after the replicators were defeated. Wouldn't that mean they created more soldieres that had to be fed, or is it just that they produced them as food.
ETA: ok, so an army to attack the other Wraith?
And I'm still not happy with the way the pregnancy storyline was brought about. I watched the episode twice now. It bothered me for weeks now, that Teyla didn't tell them she was pregnant and I just didn't get why. So when John and Teyla are in the jumper and she says she tells him that she wanted to tell him sooner and John says he gets it. Well, I felt a bit cheated because I still have no answer!!! Now I think it's because she wanted or needed to be on the missions to get information about where her people are. It's a good thing she now realizes that going on the missions is dangerous for her and the baby and could be for the team as well.
- The Locker room!!!! They have a locker room! Oh, there are shiny batleths and Ronon is dragging a clueless Rodney away
- Rodney: What did you do?
Ronon: Nothing.
Rodney: You touched something, didn't you?
Ronon: No...maybe just a little. - Kamikaze Hiveship!!!
- I totally called on Teylas extra strength coming from the baby, the moment she said, it's a lot easier to use the wraith technology as last time. I seriously wonder if they use this further. That somethign seriously happened to the baby. I think that would be very interesting. Extremely sad, but interesting.
- Now we know where the Wraith Army that defeated the ancients came from.
- ilu John. You still are the bestest. And you still hug so awkwardly. I wonder what will happen the first time you actually initiate a hug. The universe might collide.

I loved Rodney's look in that scene. All wide-eyed, innocent and curious. Okay, maybe not innocent but still...CUTE!
The first real hug will be a John/Rodney hug. And then they kiss. Trust me, I know what I'm doing.

My first John hug would be a John and Rodney hug as well... only they'd be clinging while aliens drag John away and Rodney would be all.. we have to save him thus realizing that Katie is a not the right fit for him and it was John he wanted all along!

I'd say it was more like...ooh, gossip. That's gonna be interesting. Btw, Rodney knows. JM or MG said so.
And then they kiss.

My guess is that she was afraid she'd no longer be part of the team anymore...

and I still think it's more a thirst for knowing what happened to her people and the father of her child than anything else.

Either way, to her, from what John cut her off in saying (as she says, "We haven't had this conversation yet"), the reaction is not only a complete overreaction but one that significantly reduces what she can do for her people and the people of the Pegasus galaxy. She has never made it a secret that she remains on Atlantis, separated from her people and, recently, her lover, in order to use the resources of Atlantis to better protect the galaxy and thus make the galaxy a safer place to live. If John takes that away from her, he might view her as part of the team still but she wouldn't be. Especially when you consider that Teyla was once a leader of her people, who went out, negotiated, dealt with things that a leader of a culture in a violent universe must. And she says that her people wouldn't have viewed the pregnancy as a reason for her to stop that so, yeah, John's reaction seems especially harsh, if predictable.
And if she'd let others know directly -- Rodney, who would tell John, or Ronon, who would be as uncomfortable as she was keeping the secret -- then she's just causing complications that we've seen her desire to avoid. Or telling John directy -- well, we've seen how well that panned out and it may even be something that isn't talked about directly (in the same sense that some cultures view it as bad luck to know the sex of the baby, to make up nurseries, or to pick out names before the child is born) in Athosian culture.
John didn't even have a hint that she was seeing anyone, something Ronon says he picked up, so it's not really surprising he'd miss subtle hints about her being pregnant. As for why they didn't show it, maybe because they didn't really need to since they mention it in a dramatically strong scene.

And I DO like the storyline... I just wish some things were clearer. Because there are some discrepancies with what Teylas motivation is and such.
