SGA 3x17 Sunday
I'm still trying to piece everything together. I very glad my expectations weren't high or I would have been really disappointed I think.

It's not that I didn't like it. It had some wonderful moments.

But it also made me wonder if the writers actually watched the show?
Since when are Rodney and Carson best buddies? Who are all those characters popping out of nowhere? the bearded guy with Liz made no sense to me. And that scene was extremely cliche as well.

And WTF??? In this episode already? I mean, I knew he was going to die. But why there?? Why so early? It makes no sense. And the ending. Is he ascended now?

I did love all the Rest. I loved all the Team moments. I loved the civies. I so called the John having been married part. I mean, what DO we know about him? Close to nothing that is personal.

I actually enjoyed the Rodney/Katie scene as well. I didn't think I would.

And I don't think Teyla talked about John. At least it could have been interpreted differently.

The funeral made me cry. It was done very well. I loved all the dress uniform and the look John and Rodney shared there nearly broke me.

The best part though was John asking Ronon if he was maybe dating or interested in a guy.

There are only 3 eps left, so it's not too early for him to be dying. I've always thought of McKay and Beckett as best friends, it's been mentioned before, I think, but just cos of how bitchy they are to each other, it's like me and my best friends. Thought bearded guy looked like Noah Wyle! I quite liked the additional characters though, made it feel like our team are part of a bigger team.
I don't think Teyla was talking about anyone we know.

I cried soooo much, although Kavan and Joe looked ridiculously hot in their dress uniforms. I'm definitely the side of the fandom that loved this episode, even though I desperately didn't want Paul to leave.

I know... I giess i was hoping for something concerning the Wraith. Or Michael in particular. I think it would have been way cooler if Michael planned his revenge on Carson for taking away a part of himself. For making him shunned.

It's not that they aren't good friends or even very good friends. I see that. I just don't thinkt they are best friends. But maybe it's just my own preferrence.

And I agree about Teyla. Maybe it was the 'Marine'. *g*

And I loved the dress uniforms as well.

Oh that would have been good, you're right. Hmmm.

Did Teyla say 'Marine'? cos then it can't have been John, cos he's not a marine.

Carson was behaving very Paul McGillion-esque in some of the scenes.

I didn't know that they'd get rid of him so early, either. I did see it coming a million miles away though. Still, it's interesting on several levels. They do have to pay him till the end of the season, so it's quite unusual that they let him go without getting "anything" in return.

Unfortunately, the exact same heroic scene was used on Grey's Anatomy... in a better way. Maybe this is why GA wins at the Globes and SGA doesn't. [/sarcasm]

Honestly, I would have preferred if the bomb had exploded while he was performing surgery, killing Dr. Watson, Beckett and his assistant. That would have been cool.

Did he ascend? I thought that was just wishful thinking on McKay's part. And re: them being best friends, they were sort of close, but not that close. All of them aren't that close, every single one of them is pretty uptight when it comes to sharing their past and feelings. Strangely, McKay of all people seems to be the one who's most straightforward about his feelings and relationships.

From a share your feelings point of view, I prefer SG-1 to SGA. They seem to be more family-like and emotional to me, even with Mitchell instead of Jack O'Neill.

Still, this was a step in the right direction. (I know I want too much. Stargate isn't Farscape after all.) Loved the scenes with McKay and Katie. Weir and Beardy were scary, though. Ronan and John were awesome. Made me laugh.

Wondering if anyone else had seen that. When it happened on GA I was all O_O - couldn't they figure out a way that didn't feel like it was ripped from another show?

I think even if I hadn't seen the scene on GA it wouldn't have been quite as powerful. Both times, I "knew" it'd blow up, but on SGA it didn't seem to be as intense as it should have been. It wasn't McGillion's performance, maybe it was the editing that rubbed me the wrong way.

Or... maybe the writers were pushing too hard to make his exit an heroic one. On GA it didn't feel as forced because the guy who died was a bomb expert. Or maybe it was because of that ridiculous bomb tumor plot. Dunno.

Like I said before, it might have been better if the bomb had exploded during the surgery, killing everyone. That would have been cool because then Carson and his assistant would have given their life for a noble cause, but without succeeding. But that would have been too harsh, I guess.
