Movie: War of the Worlds
I haven't been on lj since thursday morning, so I have little idea what you guys have been up to. Anyways, to alleviate my boredom, [livejournal.com profile] elsmoka agreed to go see a movie with me. Since she already did see the movies I really want to see desperately (Batman, Hitchhikers...), we went to see War of the Worlds. I went in with low expectations since I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise and I never have been, the only time I really did like him was in A Few Good Men.

Anyways, I didn't read the books and had no idea what the movie was about. I was pleasantly surprised. The visuals were captivating and I loved the camera angles and cinematagrophy and the way the whole thing was introduced with the thunder and the storn and stuff. I also liked the fact that Cruise's character Ray was kind of an idiot, or an ass, or whatever, that he wasn't a herp-type. Anyways, up to a point I could never sit still in my seat...or rather....I had my hands before my mouth. Up until a point it was omg... action!1 omg god"!! explosion!!! omg!!!!!!

And then suddenly they were in this house Tom Robbins came and I got bored. Suddenly I was in a weird horror movies with really unimaginitive looking aliens. Who are dumb. And a mad-man. I was just too much of a difference. And the red veins thing was ucky and never explained. It could have been crop, food, but still. The idea that bacteria killed the aliens was nice, but should have been explained more. I mean I get that if aliens plan on attacking earth a few thousand years earlier that they cannot account for the air conditions to change, but still, too little information on that. Also, I think it's absoultely absurd that the son, the mother, the mother paretns and the step dad are still alive. I mean..wft!! All the big cities are destroyed, but of course... boston looks liek hell but the street they live in, totally unharmed.

So all in all, it was ok, I loved the coloring :)

Your problems with it are basically what I had with it. I mean, I loved how suspenseful it was overall.

I guess I was expecting more of an explanation, like you said of how they died, the red veiny things, etc.

And, Tom Cruise was actually tolerable!

Yeah, he was pretty good... except all the crying and the way he moves. Weird!

Ahhh, I must totally not have gotten that.I mean..I didn't notice!! ;)

And yeah... dakota was really good. I have another gripe though. What did the bacteria attack, the ship, the crop or the aliens?
