Ages ago, when it became clear that
legoline was about to move, I had the brilliant idea to sew her a Captain America floor sitting pillow as a house warming gift.

Now I'm terrible at sewing by hand and I had never used a sewing machine at the time. I have however gotten m grandmothers old sewing machine and wanted to have a go. I was very scared and thought with my two left hands and eternal clumsiness that could never work. But at the end of february m wonderful friend Kate showed me how to use the sewing machine. I wrote about that here.
A few days after I made a plan and got the materials and equipment for sewing at an online store. I chose more muted colors than the actual Captain America shield so it wasn't too bright and had a more vintage look. I used this tutorial as a loose base for sewing a round pillow.
I chose the diameter by using my living room table because that seemed like a good size for pillow and created a plan in Adobe Illustrator.
After that I cut the cloth using the template and then sewed the colors together.
Then I added the side according to the tutorial and the bottom too.
I left out the star because there were complications and I found out my initial approach did not work.

I later used felt for the star, but put the cloth around it with fabri glue, glued it onto the pillow and sewed the edges onto the pillow by hand to be safe. The felt color alone was just wrong. After that I added the stuffing and closed the side.
Tadaaaa...

After over three months, I am done with it and have now also given the pillow to
legoline. She loved it. :D
The result is far from perfect, but really good for a first attempt. The fabric I used, isn't very good, so on the side, the only place with just one layer, the filling sort of sips through the fabric. But other than that I'm very happy with the result. Next I want to create a small handbag for myself.
