There are a fw good coms for GoT icons. I could look around if you like.

They used to say they did that when one tried to upload big wallpapers. But icons? Come on. They only are 40kb max. Not fair. Especially if they don't give a warning.

Photobucket is very weird that way! I switched to using LJ's pic hosting for layouts and such because of it, despite LJ's crappy (or should I say nonexistent) interface - I noticed that if I uploaded the images to Photobucket, they'd load fine the first time or three, and then begin to horribly degrade despite being stored properly on the service itself. Not sure if it's the same problem you're having, but ... yeah. Photobucket is just bizarre sometimes.

Soem people here said if you save the icons as pnd there is no such problem.

you are right, HUGE difference. i never thought pb actually degrades the quality of icons..i mean, i get it with large graphics but icons are TINY

that happens on freespace servers like imgur and tinypic, too, it's most obvious on text things, like your red icon.

I don't have any problems with my icons when I save them as png, but jpg stuff always loses some quality, for some weird reason.

they (well pb anyway), said once years ago, that with free accounts they'd always downgrade jpg's 'to conserve space'. idiots.

I knew it they did it once the images have a certain size. But I didn't expect it here. IT's good to now pngs work. :)

Yeah there's a huge difference. This has been going on for years now. Basically photobucket and tinypic (tinypic didn't use to do it, but lately I notice TP is doing it too) reduce the quality of .jpg files. Sometimes not immediately after uploading, but eventually they do. If you upload icons as a .png file then there's no problem, but any .jpg file on both PB and TP get reduced in quality. It always makes me really sad to see that to be perfectly honest (I used to always try to make people aware of that but most of the time they didn't seem to notice; you can always tell as well by the file size though).

the latest ones (of jon) you made aren't that extreme, I mean in comparison to these, it's weird, maybe it's because some files are bigger than the other ones, because the one you re-uploaded of Viserys isn't that extreme either and Dany's isn't either

It's really weird.. someone said earlier that the wuality changes over time. That they do it in retrospect. The ones I uploaded for the battle haven't been as bad in the beginning either.
