FedCon 2010 Report
Here is finally a report for FedCon 2010. Was it Fedcon 19 or something?

I have spontaneously decided go after Joe Flanigan had been announced. So after some quick planning, after a night out with my work friends (my collegue M stopped working for us) I drove to Bonn at 7 in the morning with my camera and a loaned lense in tow ;)

I decided in the cue that I would get a weekend ticket after all because it was the same price as two day tickets and then started to walk around the get a layer of the land, buy some autograph tickets and just to find out how everything would be done. I didn't feel quite comfortable because there had been a lot of stress before and there were a lot of people so I kept upstairs. At some point I saw [livejournal.com profile] niko_maria in a cue there who I hadn't seen in years. Back then we went to cons in hopes of seeing Robert Duncan McNeill!! Good times ;)

She was cueing for foto sessions for Tahmoh Penikett and I joined her for that ;) Tahmoh was quite nice, I think. He has the walk of a cool guy and wore a hat. I wasn't too nervous and didn't make an idiot of myself which is always a plus.

Met up with m [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan and [livejournal.com profile] berlingoff79 upstairs and also met [livejournal.com profile] xan_dutch and [livejournal.com profile] 2of7. It was so good to see my ladies again ;) We decided to sit upstairs in a corner and chat rather than walk around because it was quieter there. Played around a bit with certain action figures and watched James Marters sign autographs and chatted ;) At some point Joe walked past us which led to half a heart attack on my part. He really is far more gorgeous in real life than on screen. He had that red flannel shirt. Did I mention I love flanell shirts? I doooo. His pants were really tight. Noone man should be able to pull off these pants but he did. He was really tanned too!

Anyways, we stayed outside then for a while and were joined by other fangirls none of who I had ever me but who were all quite nice and chatty. It was really good to have friends there who are really involved in fandom since I have not and I would never have met [livejournal.com profile] darkmoore, [livejournal.com profile] ca_pierson and [livejournal.com profile] tuawahine.

To make sure we got to the panels and time as much as to escape the crowds we decided to cue for the photoshoots real early. We had a lot of fun becoming the official "Joe and David" cue start and chatted. There was some hassel because of Rhine in Flames, but I think it was sorted out quickly and noone lost a lot of time.

The PhotoshootThey mad a lot of hassel of telling us we could have group fotos and individual photos with Joe and David but no official notice. It was all quite confusing and the cue grew longer and longer. [livejournal.com profile] darkmoore and I got worried it would be complete chaos and we were right. They were extremely hectic in that photo room, sending us back and forth and generally not only confusing us, but the actors as well. I don't remember much about the shoot. Most people always say how blue the eyes are or how the actor smelled or something but I have no clue. I remember shaking both their hands in a very buisness like fashion, I'm sure I said something as well. I have no idea. I was running on auto pilot. They also made a mess of it (the organisers) and shoved me right back there to get my Joe only picture and I crashed right into him. Seriously, I think I stepped on his foot. I'm not sure. He was really nice about it though and the photos I took all turned out really awesome.

Afterwards we went to the panels. They moved Tahmohs panel to the front because of the photoshoot and I'm sorry to say this. I love his work, but he was really boring. Because the con people had decided that every one of the 700 people in the photosession cue would get a picture, Joe was on stage really late for his panel. However didn't think it was possible. He made a lot of those 20 minutes and was really funny and charming and so much more alive then say Tahmoh. He was wearing those sandels he likes so much and looked very relaxed and energatic. There was a leather jacket as well ;)

Joe Flanigan

Joe told us that David likes to tell him everything that he ate very specifically. Which I find very amusing because I love talking about food. There was the hair story of how he went to school and a teacher tried to get him to comb it down and the same one for that show Providence. I bet you heard that already ;)

He also told us how Paul and David also complain about being in the forest "with too many insects"... He told us a bit about how he wanted to get them to have a distillary like in MASH, but the producers didn't like the idea so he came up with the surfer dude thing. Joes panel was really amazing. He had to leave after 20 minutes though because he had been late. And even though he offered to take more questions he had to stop the panel in favour of Michael Dorn. I enjoyed Micheals panel. HE's obviously a pro, but he was far less enthusiastic or funny as Joe.

I stayed late to dance and party a bit, then was persuaded to stay even later by my friend us, who I ended up chatteing with for several hours. Got about one hour of sleep after I had taken a wrong turn on the way home.

Sunday was less eventful to me. I picked up [livejournal.com profile] frogspace at Düsseldorf HBF in the morning and then we drove to the con site again. After finding a good parking space and getting [livejournal.com profile] frogspace signed in, we took our seats so we would have a good view of the David & Joe show and so some of us could get the autographs in peace.

The authgraphs were a disaster. I was almost last in line. After some time they told us there were no more autographs for Joe and David. Some group before me was sent away. David was moved and the information was conflicting. I know some people who were closer getting to the autograph room were sent away. I stayed and was lucky. I got my Joe autograph. I do not remember at all what it was like, except I was so nervous I forgot to stay and take a few pics afterwards. I'm pretty sure we exchanged some words. But other than that I'm drawing a complete blank. Tamohn, who I had also purchased an autogrpah ticket for had left the room a long time before I ever entered to I got a refund. Still, they could have given out the information better and they should have realized beforehand that most people were there for David and Joe.

I then went to Davids cue upstairs. Slightly dehydrated and headachy. That cue took ages. Again.

Took a few pics though. And I was a lot cooler and managed a whole conversation about his t-shirt. Progress. At Peg2 I just stammered. Anyways, he was really nice, he told me I was beautiful and that my group picture really came out well. So that boosted my ego a little bit ;)

Went back into the main hall and talked and waited for David and Joe to take the stage.

We saw the panels of the bsg peeps and David Gareth-Loyd as well as James Marsters in the mean time. The bsg people were really quiet and restrained.

JugglingAnyways at some point David and Joe took the stage. And they were awesome. I spent the entire time laughing and taking pictures. Some German fanboard (I know some dick fromt here) marched on the stage and handed Joe many lemons and David got an apple. I'm not going into all the details of the panel. I will just put in some of my favorite moments. Even though I hated the fanfiction question I loved how pro they both were with the reaction. David mentioned that Joe writes fanfic and Joe just said he even pretended McKay was his girlfriend. Joe went to juggle the lemons once as David got a question just for him. As answer to what the favorite curse word was, David mentioned I usually goes with the F-Word, but Joe said the S word in both German and french and told us but that his wife cursed far more than him, especially when she's driving (Get the fuck off my road, motherfucker!'"). She's usually a *princess*.

They didn't like that they kept loosing people and forgot them in the next episode. Wether or not they learned any german, Joe answerd with a very vocal Jaaaaaa and then proceeded to put his arm around Davids should and said "ich liebe dich, dr. McKay!" This naturally was answered with very loud cheers. They also talked about how rare it was to remain ood friends after the job is done and that Joe and Jasonm refer to each other as Joji and Moji (David spilled that). Joe said " I got the name from fanfic. All in all, it was the best convention panel I have EVER been to. I haven't laughed as much ever before during one of these. David and Joe know exactly how to handle their audience.

After that wonderful panel was over there was still Terry Farrell and Michael Dorn with a double panel which was very interesting. Then the closing ceremon went down. Everyone came on stage again, everyone was drinking beer. Joe and David were drinking with each other more than with anyone else. There were standing ovations and Terry Farrell was so moved she was crying. Also there was more beer.

Hung out with the others in the lobby fro a bit. tried to find certain peole to no avail and then headed home and died on my sofa.

For more (all) of my 600+ con pics, venture here. Also please don't repost or sell them or anything.

This con report took me over two months. But I have conquered and finished and if you read it all, I' very proud, because my writing really isn't the best, I'm sure there are tons of typos and I'm sure it might seem rather random. But I have done it!!! omg I have!!! Done!!!!
