Learned something new!!!!!
So haven't checked my friendlist.
Went to the suckiest party ever last night. Complete waste of my time.

I slept very long today. This is exciting because it hasn't happened in over two months!

Anyways. I am working on something right now, three things actually that I wanna try to get done before the finals start. Which is in three weeks. Got distracted cos I had this Photoshoppy idea. I wanted an effect and I had this idwa on how to do it.
And guess what, it actually worked!

So here's a little totally senseless graphic. SV-related of course.
Might write a tutorial on this!

I love the colours and the soft focus effect in this. Do write the tutorial - I'll read it for sure!

Thanks Signe!!!

I remember we talked about this. And I asked you how to do it and you told me it's a simple command in (pain shop pro?) and now I figured out how to do it in Photoshop!

So I'm all hyped. Totally. I'll write the tutorial for sure. For SVART probably!

I use Photoshop too! Was it the high contrast, then Gaussian Blur, then blending it thing?

I've been having fun blending layers - so many different effects from the same starting point.

I need to hunt down some more brushes though - I've got sites bookmarked, so I need to go through them, as I'm using the same few brushes all the time.

aaaaaaahhhhhhhh

I should be embarressed *g* That's EXATLY what did. Except for the high contrast thing. Might try that.

You should write tutorials for SVART!

Anyways...I'll send you links later...I ahve 4 really good tips for brushes. Awesome brushes.

Increasing the contrast is good when you want to use a colour wash. I sometimes desaturate the layer, increase the contrast (more than even looks good), then blend it in screen or soft light, before adding a colour layer and then blending that. It all looks hideous on route, but the finished effect is good.

Ooh, yes please! I'm desperately looking for simple straight lines, or random cross-hatching, and also a brush that gives a film strip effect. Can't find them anywhere, so if you know of any....

What do yo mean by color wash?

I use a de-saturated adjustment layer on a lot of art, actually.
I think you can do great romantic and sweet stuff if you had a layer that just uses colored brushes and press overlay. and it looks really cool that way.

And i know about looking hidious on route. I'm definately gonna try what you just mentioned. *g*

Oh..I have such ones. Try touchstone art. and vered Brush. I'll send you links tomorrow at school, i have my brush-bookmarks there. Great stuff.

What do yo mean by color wash?

I only use the term to mean the whole technique I mentioned above of desaturating, through to adding a colour layer on top and then blending that so the lower layer shows through. Probably not the proper term!!

Now my question!! What's press overlay??

I have a link to vered Brush (I think it's one I've been working my way through), but I've not heard of touchstone art. Of course, if I get more brushes, I'll need to improve my use of brushes - it's something I need to practice. I'll be glad of the links - thanks. :-)

Oh, I see. *grins*

I guess when you learn by doing, you're bound to name the stuff yourself. Take my *press overlay*, it should have said choose a layer style. Maybe. Is that what you call it? Or layer characteristic?

It's http://www.touchstoneart.com I think.
Good stuff. Stil need to send those links. but touchstone got pat of what you want. and one of my favorite brush sets ever.

Ah, I understand 'choose a layer style'. I think that might be what is called blending.

I love touchstone art. Especially set number 1 with the brushes and lines. I'm using them already!

Thanks for the links! I think I shall use this as my excuse to play for the rest of the evening, instead of doing the jobs I should be doing!!
