This is [livejournal.com profile] darsynia and my entry for [livejournal.com profile] artword challenge 11. I actually wanted to have bigger letters for my typography because I wanted the images to be mostly in the letters. But after 7 hours of searching for free fonts I gave up and just went with it. [livejournal.com profile] artword btw, is a really cool challenge, so if you like Stargate Atlantis and produce art or fic you should really join!

Paring: John/Rodney (pre-relationship)
Rating: Art, G; Story, G
Summary: John’s tired. He’s tired, and sometimes he just wants to quit, but he loves flying, even if it is in Antarctica.
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] artword's Challenge 11: Illustrative Typography.
The Story: You can read the fabulous companion piece by here. don't forget to leave some apprectiation.
Additional Notes: Set pre-Atlantis, around 500 words.

I am so excited about this! I really liked how you picked keywords for this--initially I was wondering if it would work, but when I read the fic with the art right there, it made so much sense, and it drew out important parts of the story, to me.

My favorite is the second one (hehe, more John!), but both are wonderful, a layering of what John's going through and such a lovely association with the colors and the strong font. The coloring makes me squee, because it really is like he's flying through the art until he gets grounded at the orange fuzzy fleece!

Thanks so much :)

I loved this little jum in the end, because we as a reader know what happens but John himself has no idea whats ahead. He just is. Realizing that shift in the artwork wasmmost interesting to me.

Because in a way John is lying to himself in the pilot when he says "I like it here". I think it's more a state of not having to worry and still doing to a point, the thing he enjoys the most.

And that Orange thing. It just HAD to be done :)
