i just love the way you do your texture backgrounds. it blows my mind every time. i'd give anything to get a sneak peek into your photoshop files, hahaha. i love the one you're using now, too! so pretty :D

23-24, because i'm curious about what you did to get the difference in lighting. and 43 or similar, cause its all complicated :D

also, all the layer names are in german and at first i thought something was wrong with my photoshop hahahah <3 so confusing!

And Rofl...Ebene is the German word for layer. I'm too lazy to rename!

a little surprised - you use a LOT more layers than i usually do, and a lot more color/curves/selective color type layers. i had expected a lot more textures. i guess in some of your other icons you do - you have such a great texture library to pull stuff from. i guess when i work with a texture i generally keep it the same color as it started, whereas with you it seems like you use the texture and then change the color with color/curves layers, which i had never really thought of doing!

I use a lot of color layers yes, but I do somethimes wonder if I could use less, but in the end, it doesn't matter all that much, because usually th changes are subtle.

And I only use textures when well..when I want certain things to happen. I used to do a lot more and it really just depends on what kind of icon I'm trying to make.

And yeah.... I think I'm doing it in this way because the texture...when you change it you cannot undo it..but the color layers can be tweaked all the time.

i guess i just think of the textures as being the color they are. it's hard to get really good color changes from a lot of textures or photos, because it brings out the artifacts and ickiness, so i generally stay away from that. i really want to work more on image cleaning techniques and stuff, getting rid of artifacts, cleaning up bad tv caps, that sort of thing.
