Phoenix- An Expose?
Wheeee....after god knows how many hours,I finally downloaded Phoenix.
And I just couldn't wait to watch it after school.
I saw it before. Which made me late. So who cares *g*
Mulling it over in the train, a lot of things came to mind about this ep.
At first, I wasn't too impressed. I didn't like the pacing. It seemed way too slow. Which is actually my only major complaint.
I think Clark lost that ring way too fast. I wonder why Clark has such a dark side suddenly. Where did it come from? Although I do find it intruiging that he has to fight his inner demons. It's like Jonathan Kent against Jo-El. In Clark.
I always knew Helen was a bitch. But damn, she knows how to lie and push all of Lex's buttons. They've gotten rid of her too quickly. It's too convenient. She knows about Clark. Too much. Would have made for a grat storyline.
Chloe's new hairstyle is like a 100% improvement from Exile. Thank god.
Lex, no....do not make up with Lionel. He's the evil. Look, he doens't even give back that hug.
The Clex.Yum. Yay...hug...can't you just hug for the rest of that ep?
Lex buying the farm: predictable. But soooo sweeeeeet. Now Jonathan is in Lex's debt.
Action Lana! I liked it. Specially the fact that she accidentally kills the guy. I sense a guilt complex ahead. But please, not too much. I dare say KK can't pull it off.
Now...too my second thoughts...
The Expose: Back to Square One, the cards have been rearranged.
Which leads me to one conclusion: Michael Rosenbaum knows how to fucking act.
Because if you look closely at how Lex is portrayed, what happened in Exile and what happens here, you realize that Lex knows damn straight how to play Lionel. I think or rather I hope that his behaviour towards Lionel, reaching out and even hugging him was a sham.
Because except for in the beginning, I thought that he was way too calm. Dangerous even. It was like the calm before the storm.
It's no an episode in itself, it's more like an expose, a foreshadowing for the next season. It hints subtly at what coukd come.
Clark fighting himself and his destiny. Lex fighting himself and his issues. Lex being disappointewd by both Jontathan, his Dad and probably Clark as well.
A great work in that respect. Cudos to MR. He so made that ep.
ETA:Where the hell is Pete?
And I'm not pissed anymore. *g*

MR did totally make the episode, and I like what you say about it being a foreshadowing of things to come this season.
And yes, Pete is MIA--this means everyone who guessed high on the Pete Speaks! Challenge has a little more to worry about :)

And about Pete....that's the same thing that came to my mind!
