Bloc Party!!
Let's just start this by saying, I had loads of fun. It was quite the enjoyable experience. That said, it was NOT a good concert.

The Venue, The People

The venue was much larger than I expected. I don't even want to guess how many people there were. Weird crowd too. Very young and very old. Not the usual crowd you see at these gigs.

There was ahrdly any place in the crowd that was mosh free. And since I always move different that most people and I like my freedom to move in the direction I want, I hate moshing. I still have that headache from the elbow that ended up on my head. Also got stomped at the feet. And Kate and I left Steffi for a bit to head to a safe area before the concert main act even started. At least that what we thought. We had a hard time getting out of that crowd to the side, where we met Steffi again, who lasted less long ;)

That said, aside from a very disgusting british guy, who told me he loved me (very drunk), it was a good place to be. We danced, we sang along, it was fun :) It was easier to listen because you didn't need to concentrate to not have your head bashed in by idiots.

The Music

What I like most about Bloc Party, besides the fact that they rock lots and the guitars are awesome, is the cripsness of the music. The precise turns, the sharpness of the guitars, the transitions to those parts you just wait for.

That said, I think this is one of the worst played life music I've ever seen in my life. And I'm not counting the Sugababes there, because, well.

The crispness I mentioned earlier, not there. The transitions were impresice. And sometimes it seemed very much as if elements of the music, like singing, backing vocals and the rest, don't belong together and it often felt to me as if the singer didn't have enough air.

The song, Like Eating Glass, which I lovelovelove, was absolutely horrid and disharmonious. It was like everything was off key. It was like two wheels that are supposed to merge never found the right slots to fit.

A collegue from work also saw it, and he actually left early. He did however say, he's seen them before in a much smaller venue and they were far better, so maybe partly, it was the acustics.

I still love Bloc Party, I enjoyed the gig, because the music is great and I can actually sing along which makes it much better every time, but I'm not sure I feel the urge to see them again.

Can I ask for a favour? For Round 2 over at [livejournal.com profile] lantis_lims, I'd like to have a new header/userpic, and since I love your larger graphics, I'm asking if you'd like to create the new layout. Sorry to spring this on you so close to the commencement of R2, but I previously asked [livejournal.com profile] obaona but she's too ill at the moment.

If you're not interested, please just say :).

Header: 600x388 pixels. Featuring Atlantis City and whatever else strikes your fancy. I don't mind altering the colours of the current layout, though I'd like to stay with some shade of blue ('cause Atlantis is on the ocean). Text: "lantis_lims", "stargate atlantis last iconmaker standing", and "Round 2".

Userpic: Cropped from header etc.

Also, it would be really, really awesome if you could make a little advertising button from the banner, too, so people can advertise the comm on their lj.

And this is the fun part: I'm planning to open Round 2 sometime around Wednesday or Thursday (I originally said Monday or Tuesday, but omg things are so crazy), so I'd ideally like to get the layout up before then. So sorry to spring this request on you out of nowhere :(.
