DOES THIS MEAN YOU'RE SUBMITTING. You better be, I would hate to see an one of the most - interesting styles that are up there now win.

i've started 4 different styles and then got bored... it's cos I'm working so much I got so many idead but really little time to submit them..which is really frustrating!

And I really do like yours... the first you posted especially... and two by this lisa chick... the last one especially got some brilliant css work in it... the one with the planes is cool too...

the rest is...and I said that before... KACK!!! *g*
just..if I don't get one style done I'm gonna be seriously depressed.

The one with the plane, I don't like it at all. It's not - I mean, if one wants to work wtih graphics, okay but, make them good. It seems rushed. But the concept is nice.

And yeah, I know. It's - once the designing part is done and the actual coding starts, it's not so much fun anymore.

And thank you.

mm.. I don't like the graphics too much..but I love the idea behind it and the execution of the subject line.

its hard to say what the judges and the participants are after though....

What else I want/need to see:
If someone on my flist posts something really wiiiiide (either a huge long link, a wide graphic, or anything html that forces width=700px), the only post affected is theirs. All the other posts on the page remain narrow.

Example:
- Go to my friends page.
- Find your post on the page.
- Now narrow the width of your browser until the poll on your post starts to force it past the right side of the screen.
- See how all the other posts (unless they also have polls or something) shrink to fit the width of the screen, so you don't have to scroll to read them.

For me that's essential. (Your poll is fine, btw! It's just about where I like my browser width.) Even though my monitors are all capable of displaying a really wide page, I have a hard time reading unless the text is in a relatively narrow (400-500px) column. That's why I'm using my version of Unearthed, even though I've seen other much shinier styles.

Re: What else I want/need to see:
Does this mean you want the others to remeain? or not?
That is an interesting point, cos the contest set-up is different than lj usually works.... *g*

Like I said.. interesting..and I will check it out.

What others? I'm confused.

Once I find sources for things and figure my way around the code a little, I like to customize the heck out of my journal. And I don't want graphics done for me, that's half of the fun of customizing. (Ignore the fact that my journal still has Christmas graphics up, I've been ready to change for months, but haven't quite had the inspiration/time/my-computer-died-and-took-all-my-pics-and-Photoshop-with-it to do a new set. Stupid masters degree, two and a half weeks and then I'm not doing school again ever! Or, at least for a few years!) That's why I like Component, I can put in exactly what I need and not display any components I don't want. But I wouldn't be anywhere without LJ communities dedicated to customizing, so the new code can't be particularly complex.

Anyway, those are my two cents that wouldn't fit in the box for the poll.

Yeah... that is exactly it!!! and most styles in the contest don't really leave much room for customization. A lot of them have a theme and they will not be able to be changed in a way we might want it to be.

Good luck with your masters :)

I love that kitty style available through lj, but I couldn't customize it the way I wanted. What I like is that the layout is fairly simple, but there's a cute design element that isn't cluttered or hard on the eyes. If that makes sense.

You....

but it's pink!!!!!!!!!

and I think i kno what you are getting at!
[identity profile] garryowen.livejournal.com on May 29th, 2006 07:01 pm (UTC)
I know it's pink. *g*

I tried to change it to a blue color scheme, but I'm not that talented, so it got all fucked up. But I really love the concept of that design. It didn't have tags, either, which was another drawback. I like tags.
